I own the original SuperStar Professional 1-inch Flat Iron Hair Straightener, which I just love! However, I live overseas and unfortunately had removed the voltage safety of the product so I didn’t want to plug it in and have a melt down! I bought this Black Pearl because it specifically said 220 volt, well that’s about the only thing it has going for it. It works marginally, it’s build quality is low, made of cheap plastic with low quality plates that aren’t set properly and there is no heat setting. Finally, it looks converted to 220 that’s how cheap it looks. So you are still wondering, well how does it function? My hair has but a few loose curls, that end up looking like loose, long waves. Tsk, tsk, it did little to nothing for my hair, which needs only a little heat and effort to go straight or curl the ends. For the price you should expect a better quality item with at least a high/low heat setting that actually affects your hair.

I bought this flat iron online approximately 3 years ago….this iron is AMAZING! I am looking to purchase a new one because after many falls from my dresser while using it the plate has come loose. I will say that the iron continues to work, but having to readjust the plate while it is 410 degrees is a bit much 
I have never had a problem with this iron and agree with previous customers that it makes my hair soft and SO straight. I have pretty curly hair and this iron is by far better than CHI and FHI both expensive hair straighteners.

I’ve owned this hair iron for 4 years, using it about 3-4 times a month. I have A LOT of thick hair, that naturally tends to curl, and I live in Miami, where it is impossibly humid ALL YEAR. This iron has worked faithfully, everytime I’ve used it, and it locks out humidity, so much so, that I can go 1 week before needing to wash my hair (and use the iron) again. I bought the iTech Ceramic Tourmaline Flat Iron from Seattle beauty supply Ed Wyse. I had used the product two or three times when in a sizzle of smoke it just stopped working- while getting ready for a wedding no less. Appliances have never shorted out in my home the years we’ve lived here so assumed the product was defective. Because I had the flat iron just over 30 days Ed Wyse would not take it back but instead referred me to iTech support in California. The customer service person responded disinterestedly and told me to mail it back to them with a check for dollars to mail me a new product. I told the rep that after sinking nearly 0 into the product I wasn’t willing to spend an extra and time on another flat-iron and could they waive the shipping at least one way. The customer service person was impatient, told me it wasn’t his fault and my only option was to mail them the product and the check. He couldn’t wait for me to get off the phone. I called Ed Wyse corporate office to see if they could help me out in getting behind their products for a long time customer. Sorry was the reply. I threw the barely used flat iron into the trash and am going to buy the ghd from Sephora to replace it, or the T3 from Norsdtrom, the King of Customer Service. In an economy where businesses are looking for customers I will not give iTech or Ed Wyse any more of my money.
